Power Institute of Hotel Administration Inc.
I’ve finished my 10-days training at PIHA. I could say that it’s a reliable training center for all those who are hoping to get a job abroad and even on cruise ships. I’ve seen some post cards sent by some of their former students that are now working abroad, and on board. One of my classmates is already scheduled to leave this July to be a bar waitress in a cruise ship. But she’s still required to take a training at PIHA to have some knowledge about the position she applied for. Some have already been pulled out from the training for an interview to an international employment agency. Some are getting hired for a luxury yacht (NO EXPERIENCE, NO OJT), and they’re getting paid €1000 per month. Most of us are targeting a Sea-Based job, so we are all required to get SOLAS. After that, we’ll now be asked to go to a specific hotel/restaurant to have our 280hours of on-the-job training. Once done, we’ll now be referred for employment to whatever position or job we want to apply for. There are a lot of PIHA students that are getting hired faster than others because they have a good reputation in this industry. But of course, you still have to study everything that’s been taught during the training, and do everything to pass the employment process. By the way, there is a training fee of Php3,800 (which includes 10days of lecture and 280hrs of OJT) and if you’re looking to get a sea-based job, you should prepare Php5,515 for your SOLAS. If you want to take another 280hrs of OJT in another field, there’s an additional fee of Php500.
